KSDK -- Route TT is closed at Interstate 55 in Jefferson County for construction of a new interchange.
The Missouri Department of Transportation and its contractor, Iron Mountain Trap Rock Company, closed it starting today. MoDOT said the section needs a new interchange because with construction of the new Holcim Cement Plant, a new route to and from the plant needs to be constructed to avoid the large residential area along Route 61.
The new interchange will provide a southbound Interstate 55 off-ramp and a northbound Interstate 55 on-ramp at Route TT. Crews will also perform rehabilitation work on the existing Route TT bridge over Interstate 55.
