JEFFERSON COUNTY -- Two 58-year-old men were standing on Highway 30 this morning discussing earlier accidents at that stretch of road when an SUV tried to avoid them, skidded on the ice and hit them both.
One of the men -- Ross W. Crum, of Robertsville -- was flown by helicopter to Barnes-Jewish hospital in St. Louis with serious injuries. The other man -- William S. Triola, of Grubville -- was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's Medical Center with "moderate" injuries, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
