waste. Now a mother and grandmother of 11 says tax dollars that paid
for new 9-1-1 emergency dispatch technology, and some fast acting
dispatchers and firefighters, saved her life.
Just a few months ago, if you called 9-1-1 from a cell phone in
Jefferson County, dispatchers could not tell where you were calling
from. Now that's changed.
"Old, nothing fancy, no internet, no nothing, just an old phone," is
how car crash victim Joan Walsh describes her cell phone, even though
she now calls it, "a life saver."
Early Saturday, Walsh found herself trapped inside her own car. The
vehicle overturned when she ran off Sandy Church Road outside
Hillsboro.
