KSDK-- A former
police chief is accused of sodomy and other sex crimes involving a
child. He was formally charged this month, though authorities believe
the sexual misconduct happened more than a year ago. At the time, Scott
Uhrig still held his position as police chief in the small St. Louis
County town, of St. George.
His job had been to uphold the law. Now, Uhrig is accused of
breaking it. He faces charges for sexual misconduct with a child under
15.
St. George Mayor Heather Hediger says, "I had absolutely no knowledge of what was going on when he was in my employment."
Hediger is shocked. The incidents allegedly occurred back in July of
2008 several months before the city decided to dissolve their police
department and fire Uhrig.
