Church emphasizes importance of deaf ministry

Fri Apr 16 2010, 20:37 by Admin

Traditionally, the deaf have been an overlooked group in the world of
religion, according to First Baptist Church of Arnold officials.

"Less
than 1 percent of the deaf in North America have ever heard the gospel
in their heart language, which is sign language," said the Rev. Bob
Caldwell, First Baptist's pastor of outreach.

However, at First Baptist, the congregation has made ministering to the deaf a priority, he said.

"We have multiple deaf ministries throughout our church and community," he said.

While I don't want 'political' debate here, these folks need help. This situation is unacceptable, it was a mistake to let these homes be built.

Letters to Arnold residents say methane gas could be leaking into homes

Fri Feb 19 2010, 00:31 by Admin

KSDK -- Residents in a Jefferson County suburb are
getting letters from a testing company that methane gas may be leaking
into their homes. It's the second time in a week that residents living
near closed landfills have been notified that methane may be leaking
from the landfills at levels higher than allowed.
The latest round of letters is going to neighbors who live near a
long closed landfill near Highway 141 and Astra Way. The dump closed in
1977 after a lawsuit by neighbors complained of the nuisance.
Della Baker says she was part of the old lawsuit and is disappointed

It is amazing reading this little story on the post web page the amount of talk it has generated.

First you see pit lovers talking about how good the dogs are.

Then you have others going on about pet owner responsibility.

I agree with both. Pit Bulls are good dogs. Except for the ones that go off and Kill.
The difference between Pits and many other breads is, when pits go off, they have the capability of killing quickly. They are a very powerful animals. Other dogs can also do this, but the pit is the most powerful dog around. So, while other dogs go off, and from time to time you hear about damage caused. When pits go off, watch out.

This is why I agree with the comments about keeping your animals under control at all time. Pet owners are responsible for the animals safety and the safety of those they come in contact with.

The link is good with several good points of view.

KSDK -- Bob Koehler's front yard sign is a conversation starter. It reads: "Ban Pit Bulls."

"I'm going to be very vocal about it, I don't care who likes it or who don't," Koehler said.

Koehler's mother, 85-year-old Rosie Humphreys, was killed last month by
a neighbor's pit bull. She was outside of her house walking her two
poodles when she was attacked. Less than two weeks after his mother
died, Koehler put the sign in his yard.

His goal is to have no pit bulls in the city of Flora.

"I don't want them in with people, mingling with people," he said.
