The new governor's proposal to maintain higher education funding at present levels in exchange for a tuition freeze sounds appealing, Jefferson College officials are saying.
Whether the school will accept Gov. Jay Nixon's offer will be up to the school's Board of Trustees, however. In addition, Nixon's proposal must also gain the support of the state Legislature before school officials can act on it.
The governor initially only spoke of four-year universities when he came out with his plan Jan 21, then extended the offer to junior colleges later in the week.
