Loyal to a cause Arnold couple devotes decades to Scouting
Gene and Ginnie Terry may be octogenarians, but
they can still muster the energy to lend a hand with Scouting in
Jefferson County.
Gene, 82, and Ginnie, 81, of Arnold, continue
to devote their time to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, even though
their five children's days in Scouting ended decades ago.
The Terrys say the main reason they still participate is they admire the youth organizations.

Festus City Council members could ban smoking in city restaurants, but first they want to know what voters think.
Arnold's city leaders are wrestling over the future of the red light
cameras that document illegal turns at several intersections, and they
want voter input.

Man tried to foil car repo, police say
An Arnold man faces state felony charges after he allegedly tried to
fool a repo man and save his car. St. Louis prosecutors charged on
Tuesday Roger Alan Roderick, 41, of the 2000 block of Melody Lane, with
two counts of possession of an item with altered identification,
removal of a distinguishing number from a motor vehicle and defrauding
a secured creditor. Charging documents said Roderick bought a 2005 Ford
Mustang in 2007.

ARNOLD — Diane Walters couldn't rest knowing fire departments in her town lacked the best equipment to save pets from fires.
So, she went online to research oxygen masks specially fitted for
animals and spent about $385 to buy five sets of the masks — one set
for each fire station in the Rock Community Fire Protection District.
"It's bad enough losing your house and everything in it, but the last
thing you want to lose is your pet," she said. "I could just see a
little kid coming out of a house burning behind him and ...
