KSDK -- Labadie, Missouri is like most small towns
in America, only it has a couple of jerks the town is actually proud to
call their own.
"Well, we're really two nice guys but that was taken," explains Don Self, better known as the chief jerk.
It all started about 25 years ago.
"My mother-in-law bought me a dryer and created a monster," Self explains.
That's when Don made his very first batch of beef jerky.
"The first batch of jerky I did, I fell in love with it," Self goes on to say.
Over the years, he has added this or that and tweaked it to what
seems to be perfection to the taste buds. So when the job market dried
up, like one of his strips of beef, he decided to do more than chew on
the idea of selling his jerky.
