Missouri plans to be one of the first states in the nation to use solar energy to melt snow and ice off bridges.
The Missouri Department of Transportation has hired Pave Guard Technologies Inc.
of Lee’s Summit to install a solar warming system on two bridges on
Route 10 on either side of Excelsior Springs in Clay and Ray counties.
The system, which will be installed between April and August of 2010, in time for next winter, will cost more than $183,000.
