This week I would like discuss how you as a citizen can be part of a very important civilian emergency prepared team.
CERT
stands for Community Emergency Response Team and is basically neighbors
helping neighbors. The Federal Emergency Management Agency, using a
model CERT program established by the Los Angeles City Fire Department,
began promoting nationwide use of the CERT program in 1994.
Since
then, civilian CERT teams have been established in hundreds of
communities and have assisted in several local emergency situations
such as the winter ice storms in southern Missouri as well as assisting
with devastating summertime flooding that plagues our area every year.
