College-bound students and their parents may be able to avoid some aggravation by attending a seminar Sunday afternoon at Jefferson College.
College Goal Sunday is a free program scheduled for 2-4 p.m. that day in the Student Center Viking Room at the Jefferson College Hillsboro campus. The event is intended to help individuals and their families understand how to fill out the FAFSA – Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
Julie Fraser, the school’s financial aid/admissions director, said that those working with a FAFSA for the first time can learn what is required in completing the document and this knowledge can shave significant time off the process.

"I would estimate the first time you complete a FAFSA, it probably takes an hour to an hour and a half, even if you have all your documents in order," she said. "I think most people who come to this get it done in about 20 minutes."
