Family of four loses home in two-alarm fire

KSDK -- An Arnold family of four has lost its home following a two-alarm fire Friday night.

According to Ron Harder with the Rock Community Fire Protection District, the fire took place around 10:40 p.m. on Riverbluff Drive at Jefferson County Boulevard. The family was watching TV when they saw flames and then immediately evacuated the building.

The home was said to be a total loss. Adjacent homes sustained intense heat damage.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Wow, this was a horrible fire.

KSDK -- An eight-year-old Arnold boy is being hailed as a hero after saving his family from a two-alarm home fire Friday night.

According to Ron Harder, a Rock Community Fire Protection District, the fire took place in the 2300 block of Riverbluff Drive. The boy, Cade Thomas, noticed smoke and embers from his upstairs window and immediately told his family to evacuate to their safe meeting place.

Within minutes of the family's evacuation, the house went up in flames, Harder said.

Firefighters arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames and had to act fast to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to adjacent homes. The fire was contained, but the home was a total loss.
