Church emphasizes importance of deaf ministry

Fri Apr 16 2010, 20:37 by Admin

Traditionally, the deaf have been an overlooked group in the world of
religion, according to First Baptist Church of Arnold officials.

"Less
than 1 percent of the deaf in North America have ever heard the gospel
in their heart language, which is sign language," said the Rev. Bob
Caldwell, First Baptist's pastor of outreach.

However, at First Baptist, the congregation has made ministering to the deaf a priority, he said.

"We have multiple deaf ministries throughout our church and community," he said.

While I don't want 'political' debate here, these folks need help. This situation is unacceptable, it was a mistake to let these homes be built.

Letters to Arnold residents say methane gas could be leaking into homes

Fri Feb 19 2010, 00:31 by Admin

KSDK -- Residents in a Jefferson County suburb are
getting letters from a testing company that methane gas may be leaking
into their homes. It's the second time in a week that residents living
near closed landfills have been notified that methane may be leaking
from the landfills at levels higher than allowed.
The latest round of letters is going to neighbors who live near a
long closed landfill near Highway 141 and Astra Way. The dump closed in
1977 after a lawsuit by neighbors complained of the nuisance.
Della Baker says she was part of the old lawsuit and is disappointed

ARNOLD (KMOV)—Police are searching for a man wanted for fleeing the scene of an accident in Arnold Thursday afternoon.

Police said Terry Roderick, 35, was stopped for several outstanding Felony warrants out of Jefferson and St. Louis Counties in Missouri. When the officer approached his van, Mr. Roderick would not cooperate with the officer and fled in the van south on Arnold Tenbrook Road.

While the officer returned to his police cruiser, the van fled at a high rate of speed toward Telegraph road. When the officer came into sight of the intersection of Arnold Tenbrook and Telegraph road, he observed a cloud of dust, which was created by Roderick’s van crashing into a car.

KSDK -- Three Arnold residents were injured Tuesday morning when their vehicle was struck by a suspect fleeing from police.

According to Arnold Chief of Police Robert T. Shockey, the incident began around 11:45 a.m. on Arnold Tenbrook Road. Police had stopped 35-year-old Terry A. Roderick, who was wanted for several outstanding warrants out of Jefferson and St. Louis counties. When officers approached Roderick's vehicle, he sped off toward Highway 231 (Telegraph Road).

As officers gave chase, they saw Roderick vehicle crash into 2002 Mercury Sable at the intersection of Arnold Tenbrook and Highway 231, Shockey said. The officer immediately stopped to provide aid to the three people in the second car while Roderick got out of his vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

This story gives the names of the victims. For those who live in or around Bayshore, 2 of them are people who have lived there for years. Colleen Martin (Kelley) who I graduated High School with, and Norma Kelley, who I assume is her mother.

Thanks, I thought he did. I knew more of the older kids in the family. I might be wrong but I would say he isone of the youngest in the family.
