KSDK -- Firefighters say a man who fell asleep while smoking is responsible for starting a two alarm fire at the Tesson Heights Retirement Facility in south St. Louis County.
The facility is located at 12335 West Bend Drive. Mehlville Fire Chief Jim Silvernail said it appears an 83-year-old man fell asleep while smoking in his room and caught on fire. A nearby maintenance worker ran into the room to help and is credited with saving the elderly victim.
