The blue moon of Kentucky was shining down on the Arnold Senior Center last week.
Well, maybe not. But firefighters from the Rock Community Fire Protection District helped people at the Center celebrate a bluegrass Christmas.
"We’ve got a rowdy bunch," someone whispered to new arrivals striding into the room in their favorite holiday attire.
The firefighters distributed plastic fire hats and badges to the seniors as they arrived.
Firefighter Ken "Coon Dawg" Lewis, who has played at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn., led a spirited performance of pickin’ and singin’.

Playing the guitar and fiddle, Lewis was accompanied by the Rev. Paul Niemann of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on the guitar, Rex Hancock on the banjo, and Hancock’s daughter, Heather Quivereaux, both from Columbia, Ill., on the string bass.
