Jake Conway wasn't messing around - he was there to win his first tournament crown.
And last Saturday the Seckman wrestler did just that. The 140-pounder muscled to top honors at the 12-team Patriot Classic at Parkway South. He defeated Tyler Lotz 8-0 in the final to lock up the title.
"I wanted to start the season out with a bang," said Conway, who was 5-2 going into Saturday's Lindbergh Tournament. "I was going into this tournament planning on winning it."
Conway's success helped Seckman squeak to its second consecutive title at the Parkway South tournament. Seckman squeezed by Lafayette for the title, 327-318.5. Jackson, with 318 points, was a slick move away from leapfrogging by both the top two teams.
