O'FALLON, Mo. — The city's veterans groups often hold a ceremony
marking the anniversary of the Dec. 7 attack on Pearl Harbor, but this
year they decided to use the commemoration to honor all World War II
veterans.
Organizers for the first time sent out invitations, asking veterans not
only to come but also to share their stories. More than 100 veterans
and family members filled the room Sunday at Civic Hall. Among them was
one survivor of the 1941 Japanese bombing of the U.S. fleet stationed
at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
