About 39 percent of the eligible workers at Fenton’s Chrysler plant decided to accept a buyout or early retirement offer from the automaker, company spokeswoman Mary Beth Halprin said Thursday.
That’s at least 1,443 workers but that number is expected grow as the company processes more paperwork. Union officials had estimated that a total of 3,700 workers were eligible for early retirement and buyouts but that number could be much higher.
