The Jeffco Diner is now open for business

We visited this evening for dinner. The place has been cleaned, and painted and is much brighter than it used to be. Very simple, not much decoration. The waitress was very nice, you can tell she is new to this, but she did a good job. The menu is pretty simple, Breakfast always available with a good variety. They have their own take on a slinger called a Jeffco's Dinger. Looks good, I am gonna try it soon.
My wife had a double cheeseburger and fries. The burger was 3.59, and the fries are 1.79. On first glance the burger doesn't seem very big, but my wife said it was very good, and she liked the fries.
I had the beef cube steak with gravy and onions. It comes with two sides, I had mashed potatoes and Applesauce. The choices also included a vegetable, slaw or cottage cheese.
Again, on first glance it didnt look like the bloated plates you get used to at some places, but, it was filling, and it was good, not fancy, just good. I enjoyed it very much. The dinner plate was 6.79. Not bad. The only issue I had was there was no bread or roll on the plate, however after mentioning it after the meal, the owner seemed surprised, and also said that anytime there was something you need, just t ask.
All the prices seem reasonable to me. The lunch and dinner menu is simple, the cube steak, and open face roast beef , country fried steak, pulle bbq pork, and breaded shrimp. All under 7.00.
Deserts consist of vanilla ice cream, a sundae or shake, pie or cake (apple and cherry pie, or chocolate fudge cake tonight), and you can have that ala mode.
I had apple pie, and wanted it ala mode, however, the ice cream was frozen so solid they couldnt scoop it! Because it took a few minutes while trying, and I couldnt get the ala mode, they made it on the house tonight. I thought that was nice of them. Given that they have only been open 2 days, I could cut them some slack over that and the bread.
All in all it was a good experience, and I am sure with time, as they get settled in, it will get better. I will definitely go back. Prices are very good I think, the food is good and doesnt even try to be 'fancy'. It is what it says it is, a diner. Give it a shot, I think you will like it. I'm hopin the breakfast is as good as I think it will be.
