Venable, 44, of Pevely, is a fourth-grade teacher at Antonia Elementary School, 3901 Old Route M.

He turned over the possibilities for his 2008 football season in the back of his head and saw open roads and green lights. He envisioned rushing for 1,000 yards. There could be a dozen touchdowns. And those numbers were just the start. When Terrell dreamed big, a 1,200-yard rushing season was within reach. And 15 TDs. Or was it 20?

From the safety of the weight room in the spring, from an all-things-are-possible seat on the edge of his senior year, ...

But Marissa Lehnig kept shooting because she knew she had to. Seckman's leading scorer during the 2007-08 season, Lehnig knew she would be expected to bear the offensive load again this season - especially on a young squad.

So the junior guard fired and chucked up shots. Not all went in. Some banged off the rim, others came off the backboard a bit off the mark. It was, at times, frustrating.

But that was OK. That's what the ...

It wasn't just his skills that were undeveloped two seasons ago. His vision was fuzzy, too. Hadzimahovic couldn't see the basketball world he would grow up to inhabit. Standing on the court, ...
